The wave conditions at Saunton are the very best in North Devon for people looking to learn to surf. Saunton has a beautiful 3 mile stretch of beach which means the crowds are spread out compared to the other beaches in the area, adding the benefits of greater space for learners and providing a safe environment to learn
Our surf lessons are suited for all levels of surfing. For anyone who is giving surfing a go for the first time or looking to improve on certain aspects of their surfing booking a single session is what we recommend. The groups can be split dependent on previous surfing experience to ensure everyone is surfing at a similar standard
We teach surfers of all age, if below the age of 8 and you’re booking a group lesson we ask for a parent of guardian to join them in the water or a private lesson booking to ensure everyone in the group receives equal tips and attention! If in doubt, please give us a ring!
The Lessons run from 10.30am – 12.30pm and 1.30pm – 3.30pm**
**Please turn up for your lesson 20 minutes before scheduled time of lesson to allow plenty of time to get into wetsuits and down onto the beach in good time.
For a first timer we take you for a 10 to 15 minute beach talk to discuss various safety aspects you need to be aware of in the sea, before going onto the different parts of the board, how we get out to the depth we want to be at, catching the waves and then getting to your feet and surfing
All equipment required for surfing is included in your lesson or course price. This includes a board, wetsuit. We can also provide boots and gloves depending on the time of year. Depending on your previous surfing experience and conditions, we have a variety of boards for you to use. Typically if you are a beginner, we will give you a soft foam board as they are more forgiving, buoyant and easier to catch waves on. If you are a more advanced surfer, we can provide other surfboards, depending on your style and desired goals.
